Company History

Richard Knight has spent the last 13 years working for various drilling companies gaining experience in the offshore oil industry, holding positions up to and including Derrickman / Assistant Driller on Mobile Drilling Rigs and progressing to a Senior Multi Skilled Operator.

Working 6 years on drilling rigs, 5 years supplying multi skilled services to the offshore and onshore Oil & Gas industry both in the UKCS and overseas.

Services provided include but are not limited to:

• Pumping (fluids & N2) for well interventions
• Testing / commissioning
• Well testing operations
• Operating torque turn equipment at a supervisor level

Contracting to amongst others:

• PSL
• BJ Services
• Expro North Sea
• Weatherfords
• Halliburton
• Air Products

I have spent the last 2 years working for Schlumberger Australia specializing in Nitrogen gas lift work.

A little bit about me...

In 1997 I managed to start my career in the oil and gas industry, after trying continuously for 1 year facing the catch 22 saying ' you need offshore experience before you can start offshore'.

Since then I have managed to gain a lot of experience in this industry, and using it to the best of my ability.

After 5 years working on the drilling rigs as a Roustabout -Roughneck - Assistant Derrickman -Derrickman and stand in Assistant Driller, I realised that there was a lot more to this than I originally anticipated, and grew a keen appetite for the 'bigger picture'.

Not knowing what type of work to specialise in, I made the decision to try everything, which in turn has been the start of my day rating adventure.

Through the years I have adopted the attitude that everything should be done by the book, and done to the best of my ability. Substandard work is totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated, as the consequence could be fatal.

I thoroughly enjoy what I do, it's a great opportunity to travel the world, see amazing things and meet interesting people.

This type of career allows me to spend quality time with my family and professionally at work, which seems to be a great balance.
